Shasta's pelt is a light red tabby with white on the underside of his neck, down his chest, and under his belly. In addition, all of his paws but his hind right are white.

He is short in height and slight in structure. Small, deep brown eyes are set on his face overshadowed by tall, pointed ears. However, Shasta is also deaf as he has been for almost half his life.

Only one scar is borne by this young tom, and that is upon his left shoulder. Originating from a cat's slash, it is relatively small and has no distinct shape.

Personality:

Shasta is very quiet, but for good reason. Having lost his hearing, his speech is slow and halting and lacks some distinction. He is horribly embarrassed by this and becomes frequently frustrated. Tied up in all that is his shyness, which results mostly from fear. Fear partially derived for being unable to hear movement, but also from opinions because Shasta takes everything to heart.

Perhaps more than anything else, Shasta is confused. He doesn't know where to go or to trust. Were someone to convince him to open up they might find a kind young cat who desires only a friend. Or they could find cat who's gone mad through confusion and frustration. When it all comes down to it, even Shasta doesn't know who he really is.

History:

Shasta was the only child of a pair of loners. For about nine moons he lived with them happily, learning the skills of survival. However, throughout that time he slowly lost his hearing. Realizing this, his parents did the only thing they could think of: they brought him to the two-legs. Unsure if he would be able to live in the wild, it was the only solution they had. Shasta, being a compliant cat, put up little fight even though it wasn't what he wanted. So he was taken in by a two-leg family with a small girl who had fallen in love with the red striped tom at once.

Everything was going fine. Shasta was as happy as he could be without his parents and loved his small two-leg companion. But when the family moved to a different apartment that didn't allow pets, he was left behind. He was out in the streets and for the first time in his life, completely alone.

That was but a short time ago. After getting into a skirmish with an alley cat Shasta retreated to the forest, striving to stay alive. But with LeafBare setting in the prey has gone and a small blind cat can only last so long.
