Other Appearances:
All in all, Fadepelt is not the kind of tomcat you would like to mess with. Although his pelt is not scarred and his face seems open and gentle, he carries himself with a proud air, and prefers to remain aloof from those he deems below him.Personality:
If you remove the proud personality, however, his appearance is a fairly ordinary one, for a WindClanner.
Fadepelt takes after his father, having a white mask that stretches from between his eyes, all the way down his pigeon-puffed chest, to the base of his tail. All his legs are also white, dipping into cream where they meet the tabby markings on his back and shoulders. These just accentuate the familiar long limbs of most WindClan cats, his medium-sized, slightly splay-toed paws and a long tail, good for balance. Secretly, he's quite proud of his appearance, and spends a fair time in the mornings getting the bracken out of his fur.
His fur is short and practical in length, making his long, white whiskers quite a comical site, especially when you take into account his long, almost Oriental face and his tall ears. He almost looks like a mockery of a cat; all of him seems slightly longer than expected, like some trick of the eye. And speaking of tricks of the eye, you should perhaps note that Fadepelt is a fairly good actor. He has to be, given his tendency to get on the wrong side of people... or cats.
It's been a long time since anyone called Fadepelt 'nice'. He's been called proud, loyal, a little condescending, and generous to the underdog... but never quite enough to be called such.History:
He takes great pride from his Clan and being around his clanmates, so he spends a great deal of time at anything that will improve his Clan's stance. While this might seem a generous office, he will probably say something or react to something -a simple 'How are you?'- with a "Good, in the service of my Clan", or some equally uppity comment. As such, he's not a terribly popular cat to work with.
A hard worker through and through, Fadepelt likes to sign up to as many patrols as he can, even if he stays away from the more laborious tasks. He leaves tic-removing to the apprentices, and herb-gathering to the medicine cats, because they're simply not worth his time. Young as he is, he's always had a great pride in his Clan, and when that was encouraged, so -it seemed- was his ego. He won't take an insult lying down, and he'll fight a losing battle for as long as he can. On the other foot, if he insults someone and they don't respond in a retaliatory manner, he'll happily taunt away until someone tells him otherwise. A little two-faced tom, really; he'll obey anything a leader says without question, but if you're in his bad books, or considered lower than he is, he won't take it.
On this list of Holier-Than-Thou are numbered medicine cats, apprentices, queens and non-Clan-born cats -the last, especially, are unpopular. His Clan is seen as retiring and gentle by the other Clans, and he's out to show the world that WindClan doesn't accept anything but the best. And do not let him near a half-Clan cat. He seems forgiving enough -to their faces at least- but as soon as they turn around, he'll whine to anyone who will listen about how Robinstar isn't harsh enough on enforcing the Warrior Code. The fact that Robinstar isn't Clan-born doesn't fail to escape his notice either, so he'll support the deputy in everything, as long as they're of 'the right blood'. It would take a lot for him to change his views - many cats have been disillusioned of their do-gooding plans, because he's simply so stubborn.
He's subconsciously a little over-bearing or condescending around she-cats, too. His mother was soft -so were his sisters- and he didn't consort with the female apprentices much, so he now has a loosely-held belief that females are all a little slow and soft.
What kind of history would you expect such a stubborn elitist to have? If you said an unusual one, you'd be wrong. Fadepelt was born a charming bundle of fluff and blood, just like every other kitten in this world. He is the eldest sibling, and while that is not quite as apparent in cats as in humans, he's always loved to take charge. Mouseheart is the proud mother of five young warriors, each of them sharing part of her tabby markings. All the kits, though, are mostly white, taking after their father Cloudedeye.RP Example:
Fadepelt's first visual memory is of opening his eyes and seeing... well, a wall of fur. But right after that, he turned his head and saw his mother's face smiling down on him. While he and his siblings' baby-blue eyes weren't going to last, his mother fell in love with the colour immediately. Fadepelt wasn't a special favourite -that honour was bestowed on his sister Littleflower- but his father showed a great deal of pride in his boys. To be honest, Fadepelt's strongest memories of his father are of him praising the boys, while it was Mouseheart's task to bring up Littleflower. Not that he could ever be bothered to see it that way.
Fadepelt tended to take command of every situation amongst the kits. His siblings got used to following his lead; it always seemed he had the best ideas, and their ideas of fun took the same shape. In a sense, Fadepelt made his siblings the cats they are today. (Then again, are not all siblings shaped by the others?) He took every criticism on the chin as a child, -sometimes taking the blame for his siblings- and the compliments went straight to his head. He wasn't a kit for speaking his mind, though, so his parents assumed he would be the logical, quiet leader.
Oh how wrong they were.
As a kit, his favourite game was 'WindClan rules the forest!', basically entailing what would happen if he, Fleetpad, Littleflower, Ferntail and Owlstep were the greatest warriors, and who eventually brought WindClan to lead the forest. Naturally, Fadepelt was always the leader.
Over his apprenticeship, though Fadepelt lost his fire for leadership. He likes to imagine that he's still got what it takes, that if he tried a little harder he could easily be deputy, but he is more equipped to be a disciple than the holy one. His mentor, Redflare, was a hard mentor, and his harsh training kicked the leader out of him. Prone to dawn trots around the territory and a stickler for obedience, he was probably the best thing that Fadepelt could have had. A soft mentor would have made him even more of a snarker than he is today.
Still, apprenticeships come and go, and as Fadepelt's went, he was a glad for it to be going. His siblings missed their mentors as mentors, but Fadepelt was glad to finally be on an equal footing to Redflare. It was as if, after having shown the tom what he could do as an apprentice, he suddenly had to be a better warrior than the tom. Perhaps he felt he had to undo all those moments of shame and anger when he whined about having to get up early, and having the combined effects of the other apprentices' sleepy grins and his mentor's furious glare. They named the tom after such a fiery colour for a reason, after all.
His personality, having been mostly defined by hard-pawed males and gentle females, has generally decided that the she-cats aren't suitable for leadership -a black mark that he is sparing about using.
