Other Appearances:
Marblefang isn't a particularly big tom, just sturdily built, like his father. With his mother's amber eyes and his father's beautiful coat, though, he likes to imagine himself as quite a handsome tom.Personality:
His face is a little longer than a normal tabby's, giving him an intelligent look, complemented by an easy smile and soft amber eyes. He has a very winner-takes-all attitude, and is never happy unless he is that winner: his eyes harden as quickly as they can soften, and his body language is about as transparent as you can get. If you anger him, his long tail will lash. If he's happy, his grin is a mile wide. If he's got an eye on you, he's not likely to take it off any time soon. And if he's afraid, well, he can't stop those flattened ears.
If you want a first-impression view of this tom, picture a self-confident, playful, easily-riled tom. His thick black stripes cover him from forehead to tail-tip, and in some places, there's more black than brown. He's not exactly well-muscled under his thin fur, just bulky and big-boned. He's not a great runner, swimmer, tree-climber... anything, really. But he does enjoy play-fighting, and there's no denying that he's only too glad to engage in some playful rough-and-tumble, no matter the age of his opponent. Again, being quite stubby, his legs are shorter than the other toms, so there's little chance of him winning a race or clambering around trees after his quarry. He prefers a more wolf-like tact: chase, chase, chase, until they are out of breath, and this is also evident in the way he holds a conversation. He's not too fussed about awkward silences, and won't say anything unless he has something to say.
((Dammit, I've gone and put his personality in his appearance XD)) Marblefang has always been transparent, and he likes it that way. Anyone who hides their emotions, or who makes anything harder than it has to be, quickly earns his disapproval. He'll get short and clipped, going silent for long periods around you until you tell him what he wants to know. He has always thought that not being a good liar was a personality flaw in himself, so he's grown to hate lying in other people. Everything has to be black-and-white in his book, and if you tell him something's white and he knows it to be black, he may fly off the handle at you. Still, the rest of the time he is laid-back, especially when it comes to following orders. He'll do what he's told, but if you want it done on a deadline, Marblefang is not your cat.History:
In a good mood -which is most of the time- though, Marblefang is as happy as leaf-bare is long. His easy smile, coupled with knowing that he's trustworthy -and trusting- make him a good cat to talk to, no matter the situation. As long as he's allowed to butt in some joking comments, he's always glad to lend an ear, and whether it's playful teasing or serious, he picks up the mood and reflects it, becoming whatever you need him to be.
As has been mentioned, while not completely free of a hot temper, there are few things Marblefang enjoys more than a good rough-and-tumble. It's one of the best ways he can imagine to make friends with your clanmates, and it comes pretty easily to him, if he's paired with an opponent of his own size. Should he ever get an apprentice of his own, it's hard to imagine something that he'd love teaching more.
You wouldn't think it to look at him -especially given the conversations he's had with his brothers!- but this tom is a solid believer in StarClan. Ever since he first opened his eyes, his mother took her two kits outside and pointed their little blue eyes at the stars every night, and said a prayer to StarClan over their heads. While others might have scoffed at this treatment, this was the only time Marblefang ever got to see the softer side of his mother. He was proud to be part of those night-time, and soon memorised her prayer by heart. From the day he first recited it with her, and saw the pride in her normally-severe eyes, he knew that was what he wanted to do: make Hazelthorn proud.RP Example:
The rest of the time, his mother was usually a towering figure: watching over them with hawk-like diligence. She had lost her first litter, and wasn't about to make the same mistake with her second. Crimsontongue wasn't too pleased with his mother's ever-watchful nature, and preferred to make friends with the other kits. But whatever Hazelthorn had him doing -practising for his apprenticeship or playing with her tail- Marblekit was always a mama's boy... even if he'd give you a helluva tongue-lashing for saying it. He enjoyed playing with the other tom-kits in the nursery, and made fast friends with a few of them.
These friendships continued into their apprenticeship, where Marblefang was as proud as the rest of them to recieve his new name. His mentor, Brightripple, was a good mentor, if a little absent-minded. She wasn't exactly moral either, and made it quite obvious that she was harbouring a crush on one of the ShadowClan toms. (Their relationship would be Marblefang's first experience of a cat breaking the warrior code.) Even without his mentor's teaching, he knew that StarClan was something to look up to, and something to be respected. He never forgot that prayer of his mother's, and recites it every night to this day.
His training with Brightripple was a fairly easy one: the most arduous work had to be done as a group task, with one of his friends and their mentor. It has to be said that the poor she-cat had little ability as a teacher, and got tongue-tied at the best of times. Training a tom so determined to get things right was hard for her, as she never gave him a straight answer. But he got through his training eventually, by hook or by crook. His friend's mentor encouraged the apprentice's trust in the warrior code, and in StarClan, even going so far as to tell him that they were more important than loyalty to your Clan. Those words got stuck in his head, and as much as he persuades himself that that would be wrong, they're still ingrained into him.
After all that slow training and so many skips to catch up, it was a wonder that Marblefang was made a warrior. His crouch was clumsy, he tended to slip on the driest stones, and as for fighting, well, he just barrelled into his opponent. But eventually, Marblepaw got up to an acceptable level of training and finally, finally, was made a warrior. He sat his vigil half a moon after his brother, leaving him feeling that he had let down his mother again.
Still, he participates in the clan as best he can. Some of his friendships from kit-hood still remain and some do not. He's not proficient at anything as the others are, and he regrets that loss dearly. But while he may not catch the voles himself, he'll never let an apprentice hunt without first taking it to the elder, and chasing prey over a clan boundary his like a death-sentence to him. If he can't hunt or fight like the other cats, the very least he can do is see that StarClan's laws are upheld.
Not needed, because Fallen is a lazy log :PCats you RP: 5
